Xavi tries desperately not to think about what’s happening with Pep- not least of all about the way Pep is insisting on him sleeping in the same bed because he’s still the best way to calm down the baby. He wishes it could last forever, that Pep could always look at him like he’s the most important person in the world, but he knows that it’s not real- Pep is obviously using the comfort he’s providing to make up for everything else that’s going wrong in his life right now- and at some point, it’s going to end. He still throws himself into helping Pep as much as he can because at the end of the day Pep is still his best friend.

The sound of the doorbell ringing disturbs Xavi from his thoughts either really late at night or really early in the morning. He unwraps his arms from around Pep’s stomach and disentangles himself from the sheets. He gets out of bed and stumbles a little as he walks out of the room because his eyes are still a little hazy with sleep. He manages to stay on his feet as he walks down the stairs and towards the front door. He opens the door and immediately thinks he’s still asleep. He blinks a few times and rubs his eyes, but nothing changes and José is still standing in front of him.

José stares at Xavi for a minute before speaking.

“I’m not surprised.”

“Well, I am. What are you doing here?”

“I don’t think that’s any of your business.”

“I’m the one he’s crying to every day because of you- yes, it is my business.” Xavi takes a step forward. “Leave.”

“That’s not your decision to make.”

“Yes, it…”

“No, he’s right,” Pep calls out from the bottom of the stairs. His arms are folded across his chest, on top of his stomach, and he’s glaring at José. “It’s my decision and I want you to leave.”

“I’m not going anywhere.” José steps into the house, pushing Xavi out of the way. “That child is as much mine as it is yours and I have every right to be involved in its life.”

“His life and, no, you don’t- not after the way you talked to me the other day.”

“His life?”

“I don’t like saying ‘it’.” Pep narrows his gaze. “I still want you to leave.”

“Yes, well, I want to apologise for losing my temper the other day.”

“Why should I believe you?”

“You didn’t tell me, for months, that I was going to be a father. In fact, you didn’t even tell me yourself. Why should I believe you?”

Pep growls with frustration and then runs a hand down his face.

“Fine. We’re even. Now, leave.”

“No. It’s about time we sat down and talked about this like rational adults.”

Pep stares at José for a minute before nodding briefly. He walks forward and stops just outside the living room. He gestures towards the room and looks at José.

“Go ahead.”

José nods and walks into the living room.

Xavi reaches out and puts a hand on Pep’s shoulder before Pep can take a step forward.

“Are you sure about this?”

Pep glances into the living room before looking at Xavi.

“He’s right- I didn’t do this alone.” Pep puts a hand on his stomach. “We need to talk.” He takes a deep breath before walking into the living room.

Xavi watches Pep walk away before pushing the door shut.

“I guess I better leave you to it.”

--

Xavi doesn’t know what to do. He’s gotten so used to being the one that Pep talks to and now Pep’s in there having the one serious conversation with the person he really needs to. He’s glad that Pep is getting some things worked out- hopefully it will make things easier- but there’s a part of him that still doesn’t entirely trust José. He’s also starting to get uneasy because this is where it starts; this is where Pep starts needing him less and he’s not quite prepared for how much he doesn’t want that. He paces the upstairs hallway for a while, but it doesn’t do enough to distract him. He goes downstairs to find out what’s happening. He just looks in from the hallway- he doesn’t actually want to disturb anything- and sees Pep sitting on the couch with José stood at the opposite side of the room. He looks in on them a few more times- the second time, José is sat on the couch with Pep; the third time, José is hesitantly putting a hand on Pep’s stomach and the fourth time, Pep and José are curled up together on the couch, talking and probably making epic plans for their future. He leaves then. He walks out of the house without half the things he came with and isn’t sure whether he’ll ever go back.

This was a nice surprise, thank you :) lovely writing as usual.

Oh poor Xavi, when pep told Jose to leave, I was all Yeaah choose Xavi. But then he just had to give him a chance and now it's too heartbreaking. Stop it Pep, he WILL hurt you again, and perhaps this time Xavi won't want to help.

Thank you!

Yeah, but Pep's just not in love with Xavi, though, and it would be sort of wrong to stay in that situation knowing it was all unfair like that. Xavi's always going to help Pep, he's just not always going to be right there, sleeping in the same bed and all. It'll all work out for everyone in the end, I promise

Welcome. I ALWAYS like your writing... But figure I should say it.

:( awww, not even a glimmer of hope. Will there be a Road to Damascus moment? When he slaps his head and goes "Xavi, of course" . No? Well OK... A happy ending?? Are you feeling OK? ;)

Thank you again

Oh, Pep already knows Xavi's at least half in love with him- he just doesn't feel the same. They're totally BFFs though and throwing sex into that would ruin what they have and I don't want to do that
I said they were getting a happy ending- doesn't mean I'm not going to torture them a buttload first ;)

Still must make Xavi sad... but that's OK. It's better they stay as BFF, sometimes sex gets in the way and spoils things.

I wouldn't expect anything less

btw.. how would you feel about Stag Island... the location of Cav amd Bernie's joint Stag do.... :D

Posted by [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
Yeah, Xavi is a little sad about it, but for the most part he knows it wouldn't really work with Pep and now he's finally trying to move on.

That's 'cause you know me too well

I think that would be full of mayhem. You know what though it could totally be next to Lance and George's retirement island and that would make the entire situation even more chaotic (because in my head, after they both retired, Lance and George bought an island together and sat drinking those cocktails with the little umbrellas in them all the time)

Posted by [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
Oh look, heroic, back lit George.

I hope in moving on, he relaxes enough to notice other people.

:D

Stag Island would be practically volcanic in the situations it could create. YAAY for George and Lance spring Singapore Slings or Mohitos on their own island paradise. I think they would get bored though with all the piece and quiet and would welcome the chance to visit the party. Hmmm though, would they both be welcome?

on 2013-04-21 10:22 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
Pfft- George always looks heroic ;)

Oh, he does. He totally does ;P

Well, other people would totally be visiting Lance and George- I guess Levi will be around there a lot now and maybe Bobby visits on occasion.
George is always welcome wherever Cav is and Lance would never care if he was invited or not. Does that help?

Posted by [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
Of course he does. It's just he used to really rock the 'mean, moody, I' m the boss' when he was riding. While I agree this could be heroic, for me, I was so distracted by the hot factor that the hero factor never came through. Umm. Have I saved the situation???

That is good to hear.. It's not Fabregas though is it?

Good, the remark about Lance made me laugh. You are right, he wouldn't care would he?

on 2013-04-22 10:22 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
Totally saved ;P To me, though, the heroic, nice guy factor totally increased the hot factor- it was all connected to me

Give Xavi a little bit more credit than that ;P

He wouldn't even care a little bit

Oh George.. Heroic, Hot and Awesome. Wish he was still here with the boys.

Thought it might be a rebound thing... Can you imagine? ... no just don't :)

Skin like leather that man

Posted by [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
I'm sure he's around sometimes and always at the other end of the phone when he can't get there physically

No, Xavi definitely has better taste than that ;P And it's not exactly a rebound thing. Actually, I'm not even sure what kind of thing it is, but it works out well for them in the end so YAY?

Absolutely. Apart from when to comes to Berto (because in my head, those two are the only ones who can really get at each other, if that makes sense)

Posted by [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
That thought makes me happy, and I'm sure brings releif to those who have to deal with the crap now :D

That sounds good, cos even though I don't really understand who he is etc, I'm sort of rooting for Xavi now, Pep seems OK, and I don't care about Jose (sorry,, it's not your writing.. I don't like him much)

Well who knows what is going on in Bertos head, that man has a poker face. Except sometimes he just looks so sad that I want to hug him.

on 2013-04-22 02:08 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
Oh, absolutely- everyone has long since learned to accept that they need George

I think it's probably more important that Xavi gets his happy ending.
TBH, I don't like Jose much either, but Pep seems intent on loving him so I'm fine with his presence

He does have an epic sad face (and an adorable smile, too). That's where they're different- Berto keeps things all bottled up and doesn't show anything whereas Lance is very vocal about all things. I still think the way they feel about things and situations is similar, even if the reactions aren't. Maybe I'm crazy

on 2013-04-22 02:18 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
Except then I sort of feel sorry for George, still having to sort out the messes for his boys. They will wear him out with all their nonsense.

I am fine with that. There really is no accounting for taste is there *shakes head sadly at Pep*

I prefer his sad face, because while he he does have a lovely smile... sometimes there is too much teeth and it looks scary.

All the fic I've read portray Berto as closed up like that, and we all know Lance is crazy volatile. But I think they both have a need for control, just just acheive it in diff ways. That would make their interactions quite interesting to say the least

on 2013-04-22 02:26 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
It's probably why he distracts them with sex so often

In Pep's defence though, the baby changed everything- if it wasn't for said baby, there probably wouldn't be any love. That's not to say the baby makes them love each other, just changes things around a little and makes them see each other differently and fall in love

Yeah, he can definitely look scary sometimes

That need for control bit is exactly right. That's why it can be such a mess when they get together, but when they fight through the mess and when they can be together, neither of them would ever be willing to give it up and there would be such dedication and love there. At least, that's how I always think of it

on 2013-04-22 02:35 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
Well it's a winning strategy and if "it ain't broke why fix it?"

So long as they do fall in love, cos staying together for the sake of a child only ends up one way in my experience.

That control and how one of them must cede it must be a hell of a thrill to write. They will fight each other tooth and nail, and also fight for each other with the same desperation. Good pairing I think. Although I do like Andy and Berto, who always seem to flail about and never talk about anything important until it's too late.

on 2013-04-22 02:50 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
That's totally George's mantra

Having the baby made them need to get to know each other more and then there was love, but it wasn't all because of the baby. At least not in the end- at first maybe they're sort of wanting to be a whole family, regardless, but then with everything that happens with them, they're not willing to be apart because there's legit love there, not just because of the baby

Thing is though, I'm still struggling with the sex I need to write between them, but they're probably just being mean to me. When I think about it, though, they do always have that desperation definitely and I guess that they'd only ever be willing to give up the control to each other, when they'd hate doing it for anyone else. I guess when they get to the point, they trust each other completely so there's no worry about getting hurt
See, I never really liked Andy/Berto because it just always seemed so unequal to me. Plus, right at the height of the Andy/Berto time, I hated Berto and loved Andy so I never wanted them to be together

on 2013-04-22 08:23 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] flipping-elves.livejournal.com
:D Trouble is I suspect things are broke, so now he does need to fix.

I'm glad they find something more solid than just their child.

Sex between two controlling personalities screams angry sex to me... at least for the first time. that would imply that one of them has to cede control, and then they work through it. Lance seems the natural aggressor here, has the personality type... but Berto would be so angry I'm not sure he would ever be able to forgive any sort non consensual sex. Did read a story where evil Berto played so nastily with a tied up Jakob, that he completely messed with his mind. Jakob couldn't get rid of the images and they both fed of this sort of dark obsession, until they were forced to face it and realise they were, infact, highly attracted to each other. It was an intensely powerful piece of writing and hot as hell. Of course Jakob isn't Lance so the dymanic would be different, but I did like ice cold and calculating Berto, caught in his own web of darkness.

I like Berto/Andy, but then again had no bias towards either of them.

George is always fixing things

Eventually they will anyway- stubborn bastards, the both of them

Oh, yeah- most Lance/Berto sex is angry sex at least at first. If they make it past that, into the epic love phase, I bet they could have some pretty amazing sex because they'd just know each other, and what each other wanted, better than anyone else ever could
Yeah, I remember that fic- it was special and, tbh, I was glad Berto wasn't with Andy then because I really didn't believe in them and I really didn't think they could work it out after that. Plus, Jakob and Berto just seemed to get each other better there

I just can't bring myself to believe in them together, at least seriously long term happy type stuff anyway. I don't think they could ever go into it expecting real love

Hah.. Handyman George

Yes they would have wonderful, hot, amazing, and very fufilling loved up sex. But it's making past the rocky reef first that's always going to be the problem.

It was compelling even though Matti got hurt, and Andy was burned. Jakob and Berto did deserve each other I think, irresistably drawn even when they didn't wan to be. I felt bad for Matti though, but he never spoke out, there was also awesome Matti/Jakob sex which was brilliant.

They seem to hit so many problems, that eventually I fear they are never going to sort it out.

Posted by [identity profile] caz-kenobi.livejournal.com
And that would never make me think of porn. Except it totally would/did

It's nice when they decide they do want more eventually, though. Not that imagining copious amounts of angry sex for them isn't also nice. It's just also nice imagining that kind of epic love too

Yeah, Matti was particularly screwed over there, but I bet a part of him was probably expecting it all along

That's the thing- too unequal

*titters* confessions of a handyman, EPIC

Nice to mix it up a little, but I can see angry sex being easier to write for those two. Maybe start with a bit of comfort and work up to it. In my mind, Berto would be the one to initiate loved up sex, which Lance would have no qualms about joining in with.

Hugs Matti tight and promises I will never even think about again. He was architect of his own fate there.. Jakob needed claiming, made his, possessed. But he just left it, hoping he would see it, never calling him on it. And even then it hey might have been OK if he hadn't called Berto. So yeah matti needs to toughen up.

And I bet he's got some amazing stories to tell

They do tend to want the angry sex more, for sure, but I've so grown to love them together that I always want there to be more. I think they'd both probably be a little worried about starting something more. I guess it depends on the situation. Like if Berto was sad, you know Lance would do anything to make him feel better, adorable sex included

I'm sure Matti has learned his lesson by now
